What we’ve done and where we’re going

So far, we’ve run a pilot program in speech therapy in Siem Reap, the first of its kind in Cambodia. The aim is to see whether or not speech therapy can work in Cambodian context, using Cambodia language. Following an evaluation of the pilot program the next stage will be to scale up the program to cover more provinces in Cambodia. We’re also starting to plan a university speech therapy course.

You will assist in networking and communicating with Australian media to follow up with pitches and generate new leads. You will be part of a team mapping out OIC's media outreach plan in Australia and then globally.

Job profile

The primary responsibilities of this post are to provide effective support to the LAC and Mozambique teams, in the development of programme funding applications to institutional donors, in close co-operation with colleagues and local partner organisations. Based in the LAC team the post-holder will support programme staff in identifying funding opportunities matched to partner priorities: and will be responsible for keeping the team up-to-date with donor strategies and priorities, raising awareness of requirements and partner obligations to fulfil these, taking a lead on reporting, monitoring and evaluating institutionally funded programmes, contract management, representation to donors and compliance with CAFOD and donor standards. The post-holder will also provide support to partners in strengthening their own capacity to fundraise.

Your profile

You will work collaboratively with programme teams to strengthen CAFOD’s programme in the LAC region and in Mozambique. You will have considerable experience of institutional funding mechanisms and priorities and proven ability to build and manage effective donor relationships. With strong financial management experience you will be able to undertake substantial overseas travel in support of programme funding priorities. You will be committed to CAFOD’s Vision, Mission and Values and ways of working in partnership with local organisations and the Church. You will have a strong understanding of CAFOD’s faith identity, of international development, with first-hand experience in a similar role. You will be fluent in written and spoken English, Spanish and/or Portuguese.

Job profile

To contribute to CAFOD and Trócaire in Partnership’s (CTP) involvement in South Sudanin line with the agreed country strategy by securing institutional funding for CTP’s supported programmes and partnerships; effective contract management and internal/external representation. There is also a small element of internal communications.

Job role

The scope of the post falls into the following broad functions:

  • Programme funding & partner fundraising capacity: lead, facilitate or support the preparation of livelihoods, governance and peacebuilding and humanitarian programme funding applications to institutional donors, in close co-operation with programme colleagues and partners. This includes keeping up-to-date with donor strategies and priorities, and raising awareness of donor requirements and partner obligations to fulfil these. Furthermore, in line with relevant capacity strengthening plans, support partners in strengthening their own capacity to fundraise.**Contract Management**: lead on reporting, monitoring and evaluating institutionally funded programmes, in line with CTP and donor standards.
  • Internal communication and representation: provide first point of contact for Trócaire staff regarding the South Sudan programme. Engage with internal stakeholders in both CAFOD and Trócaire, including working groups and communities of practice on cross-organisational work.
  • External representation: as appropriate and in coordination with the Country Representative, liaise and manage relations with relevant donors.
  • Donor focus: where appropriate, in co-ordination with the International Programme Funding Unit, support the development of specific donor engagement strategies.
  • Systems and compliance: ensure the effective use of CAFOD’s systems to share knowledge and inform decision making and implementation. This includes ensuring compliance with agreements, regulations and requirements attached to our work and donor contracts;

You will be fluent in English with excellent spoken and written communication and interpersonal skills, inter-cultural sensitivity and confidence in dealing with a wide range of colleagues. OIC: The Cambodia Project is an initiative working to establish speech therapy in Cambodia for people with communication and swallowing disabilities.

We launched in 2013 in partnership with CABDICO, a Cambodian disability organisation, to start the country’s first project to bring speech therapy to more than 600,000 people in Cambodia with communication and swallowing disabilities.

We have three priority areas of work over the next five years:

  • We will raise awareness amongst all levels of community, as speech therapy is an entirely new concept in Cambodia.
  • We will build on our pilot program by training more health and education professionals, refining the techniques that are used and learning from the professionals putting these skills into practice.
  • We will advocate directly to the United Nations and the Cambodian government for speech therapy to be funded as a universally accessible, locally led service.

Over the last two years we have helped more than 100 children and have accomplished a number of key goals, including piloting Cambodia’s first independently evaluated speech therapy training program.

The role

To meet the ongoing demands of this project, we are seeking a Fundraising Manager to join our small but successful team.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for managing the development, implementation and measurement of our fundraising activities to support OIC’s activities. Fundraising methods and goals will be mutually agreed between team members.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities /objectives of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and implementing the existing fundraising strategy, and ensuring alignment to the communication strategy
  • Manage the various fundraising channels through grant writing, corporate and private donors, and initiatives such as:
  • Birthday Heroes– an initiative where people pledge their birthdays to support OIC
  • A Day Without Speech – a fundraising and awareness-raising campaign in partnership with organisations, companies and schools to give up the ability to communicate through speech for a portion of the day
  • Ensuring good donor relations and attract new donors to OIC
  • Managing the fundraising committees that OIC has established internationally
  • Manage volunteers, and assist in identifying and recruitment of new fundraising-related volunteers
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the broader project strategy

About you

You are a fundraising specialist with both an eye for detail and a mind for strategy. Comfortable working in a changing environment, you are a self-starter who can take initiative to identify what needs to be done and do it.

You are also compassionate and ethical, committed to improving the lives of the Cambodians we work with, and respecting them in all our communications. You are flexible, independent, innovative, self motivated, able to work with limited resources and able to reach targets on time.

In addition you will have:

  • Demonstrated results in fundraising in a developing country
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience working in a fundraising capacity with established professional networks
  • Expertise in developing and implementing fundraising strategies
  • Experience in crowdfunding, and using social media and other online platforms
  • Ability to develop fundraising tools, such as presentations and donor databases
  • Excellent skills in developing and maintaining relationships with donors
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills to utilise OIC’s assets to raise funds
  • Knowledge of Khmer language, and understanding of Cambodian context and disability are assets

Remuneration

Remuneration is within the range of US$1,200 to US$1,500 per month based upon skills and experience.

Additional information

This role is based in Phnom Penh and the successful candidate will be required to relocate. We will provide ongoing advice and support for your relocation, however the successful candidate is required to cover relocation costs including air tickets, visas, insurance and accommodation.

The role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for developing and implementing activities of OIC: The Cambodia Project, as well as operational management of daily activities.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities /objectives of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the completion of Memorandum of Understanding with partner universities, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and relevant government offices to advance OIC’s programs in Cambodia
  • Develop and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework for OIC and its programs
  • Coordinate speech therapy awareness raising activities amongst community, government and NGO staff
  • Raise the profile of speech therapy within Cambodia through media, meetings and partnerships
  • Manage program budgets and expenditure, and related administrative tasks
  • Translate, and write project reports for internal use and donors
  • Provide grant application support
  • Assist the OIC project manager in maintaining program budgets, producing reports and delivering outputs

About you

You are a project specialist with both an eye for detail and a mind for the bigger picture. Comfortable working in a changing environment, you are a self-starter who can take initiative to identify what needs to be done and do it. You’re not afraid to ask questions.

You are also compassionate and ethical, committed to improving the lives of the people we work with, and respecting them in all our communications. You are flexible, independent, innovative, self motivated, able to work with limited resources and able to reach targets on time.

In addition you will have:

  • Proven experience in project management
  • Knowledge in developing and implementing program strategies
  • Ability to plan events, such as workshops and trainings]
  • Skills in coordinating and communicating with universities, NGOs, government offices, media and other project partners in Cambodia
  • Excellent skills in developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills to utilise OIC’s assets to develop and implement programs
  • Native speaker of Khmer, and excellent English speaking and writing skills
  • Experience in the disability sector is desired, but not necessary

Remuneration

The remuneration during the three-month probationary period is US$ 500 per month. Following that period, the remuneration will be US$ 625 per month.

Other benefits include provident fund, insurance, social security fund and 13th month salary.

Additional information

The position is based in Phnom Penh. It is a two-year contract, with a probationary period of three months.

We launched in 2013 in partnership with CABDICO, a Cambodian disability organisation, to start the country’s first program in bringing speech therapy to Cambodia for the more than 600,000 people with communication and swallowing disabilities.

We have three priority areas of work over the next five years:

Over the last two years we have helped more than 100 children and have accomplished a number of key goals including piloting Cambodia’s first independently evaluated speech therapy training program.

The role

To meet the ongoing demands of this project, we are seeking a Speech Therapy Coordinator (paid position) to join our small but successful team.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is a senior technical position responsible for overseeing our speech therapy activities.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities /objectives of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Participate in a stakeholders’ task force to start a university course in speech therapy in Cambodia
  • Gather information about the current practices, training needs and existing speech therapy infrastructure in Cambodia
  • Review existing speech therapy training program in Cambodia and adapt to the needs of stakeholders
  • Outline the curriculum and logistical needs of establishing a short course in speech therapy for health professionals, teachers and government officials
  • Train trainers and partners in speech therapy, and coordinate volunteers to do trainings as needed
  • Assist in structuring the monitoring and evaluation of OIC programs
  • Provide technical input into OIC’s strategic plan and activities
  • Deliver professional development sessions to the OIC team

About you

You are a speech therapist with a desire to learn and adapt, while still maintaining the highest levels of quality and transparency. Comfortable working in a changing environment, you are a self-starter who can take initiative to identify what needs to be done and do it.

Your profile

We are keen to hear from you if you have experience of international development and working with institutional donors. You should have experience developing donor expertise for both proposal development and contract management, and developing engagement strategies and related training materials. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for managing the development, implementation and measurement of our fundraising activities to support OIC’s activities. Fundraising methods and goals will be mutually agreed between team members.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities /objectives of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and implementing the existing fundraising strategy, and ensuring alignment to the communication strategy
  • Manage the various fundraising channels through grant writing, corporate and private donors, and initiatives such as: Birthday Heroes, an initiative where people pledge their birthdays to support OIC, and Day Without Speech, a fundraising and awareness-raising campaign in partnership with organisations, companies and schools to give up the ability to communicate through speech for a portion of the day
  • Ensuring good donor relations and attract new donors to OIC
  • Managing the fundraising committees that OIC has established internationally
  • Manage volunteers, and assist in identifying and recruitment of new fundraising-related volunteers
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the broader project strategy
